PHARM. ANTHONY TIMOTHY GILBERT

Pharm. Anthony Timothy Gilbert is an accomplished Clinical Pharmacist and academic leader with extensive experience in pharmaceutical education and institutional administration. He is a Nigerian by nationality and currently holds the position of Principal Lecturer and Head of the Department of Pharmacy Technician Studies in the School of Allied Medical Sciences at the Bayelsa State College of Health Technology (BYCOHTEC). Pharm. Anthony began his academic journey at Niger Delta University (NDU), where he earned his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Pharmacy. He went on to obtain a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Clinical Pharmacy from the same institution and is presently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical Pharmacy, also at Niger Delta University. His academic and professional focus lies in the area of Clinical Pharmacy, where he has continued to contribute through teaching, mentoring, and research.

He was first appointed into the service of the Bayelsa State College of Health Technology on the 1st of February, 2012, under a pensionable appointment. Since joining the institution, he has served in several critical roles, including his current designation as Principal Lecturer and Head of Department. In terms of institutional service, Pharm. Anthony has held multiple appointments at the College over the years. He has served as Head of the Department of Pharmacy Technician Studies since March 2025 and has been a member of the College Accreditation Committee, the Academic Board, the Committee on College Expansion, and the Committee on Internal Conflict Resolution, all commencing in March 2025. Prior to these roles, he was a member of the Academic Board beginning in April 2019, and he also served on the Accreditation Committee from April 2019 to September 2019. Between July 2017 and April 2020, he functioned as the Acting Head of Department, and during that same period, he also contributed to the Academic Board. Earlier in his career, from July 2014 to June 2017, he was responsible for coordinating examinations and timetables within the department, a role that underscored his organizational capacity and attention to detail.

Pharm. Anthony is an active member of key professional associations, including the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and the Clinical Pharmacists Association of Nigeria (CPAN). Through these affiliations, he remains committed to advancing the standards and practices of the pharmacy profession both within academia and the broader healthcare system.
