BRIEF HISTORY
The General Studies (GS) Department under the School of Foundation Studies was established from the collapse of three Departments under the School of Foundation Studies ( Science Foundation, Arts/Social Sciences and Biostatistics) in 2019.This was in response to the growing recognition of the need for the College to align with the National Board of Technical Education(NBTE) Standard.
The Department has the responsibility to service other professional Programmes in foundation courses( Biological Sciences, Arts, Languages, Pure Sciences, etc) to complement and enhance the specialized knowledge that students acquired in their respective Professional disciplines.
The Department is well equipped with Professionals in the relevant subject areas with high profile academic qualifications and laboratory equipment. The cream of the human resources available has distinguished the department in the training and preparation of students at the foundation stages.
The Department has also evolved into offering and training students in Entrepreneurship skills development which is a pointer to self-reliance of students after graduation.
The teachings in General Studies Department basically encompasses of four major units in Education. The Biological Sciences, Arts, Social Sciences and the Pure Sciences. These Foundation courses are offered by all students in their respective professional programmes.
The Department is currently headed by OWABA, CHARLES-OLAUD EMMANUEL, who happens to be the pioneer Head of Department. The Department is currently under the directorship of LEGHEMO, EBIFAGHE .K, Director: School of Foundation Studies.
